Around what is called a six mile loop but has an error of up to a mile. Anyways, I was pretty tired starting out but decided to do five minutes sets of accelerations starting at ten minutes. I was planning on doing one minute breaks, but my first acceleration was up the one big hill on the run and I decided that five minute breaks would be better.

Ten hours of pushing a whirling bladed machination of incarnate death and grass cutting. That better cout as cross-training, because otherwise my day and energy has been put to waste, excepting the 95 dollars I made (my time is worth so much more than that...).
then a run for
1:19:58
Exactly 40 minutes out through the woods to black creek to the back of some gaited community that I didn't know existed. and then 39:58 minutes back home down Union street to Chili ave to Stottle to Stryker and home. Of course, we all know what this means... It means that I am a failure as an explorer and cant find a short cut to some place I've never been to before. It also means that I've gotten pretty good at figuring out which plants hurt when you run through them.

thirty-six minutes, twenty-six seconds, and seventy-five one hundreths of a second.
Memorial park and back with a minor detour down the no-trespassing path (only took about 7 minutes to the end and back). It was very humid and I don't have much energy so I decided to go for a short run today. Stopped to stretch at the park which felt pretty good and I feel great afterwards.

56 minutes
Easy pace to the memorial park, through the service path to wegmans and then around to the second RR crossing and back. It consisted of about two decent sized inclines which weren't really a problem at all. I'm getting alot better at running hills. I barely notice them anymore unless they're really steep.
Didn't have much energy, but it felt good going at a comfortable pace.

2 hours 17 minutes and 27 seconds.
Went out Scottsville Chili rd to the school (this took about 33 min) and left on North Rd to corner store and then left till the Greenway which I took until 1:00. Went back the back way and decided halfway that I needed to get more distance in (aka I got lost) so I went pretty far out of the way and ended up intersecting the 3 mile loop by my house.
All in all very fun... I started to feel the heat after about ten minutes but it never got very bad. Felt good until the turn around and only started really suffering at about 1:45
Felt pretty drained immmediatly after, but within a few hours I had enough energy to want to ride my bike ot the store for some bananas and cran-raspberry juice...
trippy coincidence: at the store I ran into my mom and thus forced my purchases onto her... but as I was walking around with my mom I ran into J Rapp and we ended up hanging out afterwards... In conclusion, the entire world converges at the Chili-Paul Wegmans.

About an hour
I forgot to turn my watch on at the begining of the run so I've taken the liberty of adding six minutes on to my time of 54 min.
This was another exploration of the area behind my house, I was intending to meet up with the creek, but on my way ran into a smaller tributary that looked like fun. So tried to follow it to its source after about 30 min. I ran into a Stottle road about a mile away from my house and decided to go back home. Fortunatly I ran into a bit of impromptu exploration on the way back: a grassy field that was visable over the shrubs and bushes growing near the road. So I ran through that and got my feet covered in mud but found a really cool bit of forest with no underbrush that I took the rest of the way home.

Run: 41:59:52
Ran down the street to the "No Trespassing" area (about 2-3 min.). Its basically a place where stupid people hunt and refuse to let anyone else into so as not to disturb the deer. There are a couple paths that end in big anthropogenic fields with tall grass which was unusually tall this time. Being as that tall means itchy I got off the trails into the forest where there was less underbrush and ran alongside the creek for a while mostly on deer paths and through the areas where the foliage is thick enough to prevent underbrush. It ended up being about 30 minutes of agility training until I got to a degraded field which I followed around for a few minutes before realizing that it was the field that wraps around behind my house. The stupid bastards that live behind me let it dry out and get compacted. No real blood loss, but the random scrapes, itchiness, and off-trail nature are probably enough to consider this an adventure run in preparation for the trip to Bhutan.

Bike: 10 miles?
Run : 57:30
Rode bike to Oatka park (about 5 miles)
Ran one perimeter stopping to strech at 10 minutes. Then ran up the park road, down Lost Sara to the bridge. Doubled back and did an acceleration to the triangle (about 2 min 30 sec of hard running. And finished back on the fun route. legs were kind of tired the whole way. Could either be from the accelerations last night, or from riding the bike.
Rode back on bike.

Run: 48:26:63
Took yesterday off because of unpacking and then sitting in a car for 7 hours as we took the longest possible direct route home. Went out for an easy 30 min. I ended up at the park and streched before doing a 30-60-90-60-30-60-90-60 set of accelerations with random breaks never longer than 60. I didn't get much of a warmdown because I spaced the run wrong and got back a few minutes after I finished the accelerations.

Night Running
1:20:07
Started at about 1:30
went from the gym, to the bottom of Main Street, to the top of Main Street and took the rihgt after Peak, crossed over on the road by Wooster and went down the hill to the entrance ot rail trail, then went up the hill back to the Gym. I did this twice, the first time was easy as a warm up and the second one was at a fast but managable pace. This took about 40 minutes, for the rest of the time I went down the Rail trail going north, back the road near Boces, and finished by running around campus for a few minutes. My legs hurt.
I tried to focus on keeping a steady pace on each individual loop and on the 40min warmdown thing. While I was doing this I noticed that my cadence is pretty much unconscious now, but I still have to focus on integrating more hip movement.
I noticed that the speed workouts are realy helping increase my average speed; even when I'm relaxing on a warm down, I feel like I'm going pretty fast.
Opportunity Cost: I was not wearing socks or underwear and suffered from extensive chaffing in the crotch region and the seams from my shoes cut into my feet leaving them red and sore.

I'm going to hold off listing food until I can get a notebook to write it down in.
Took today off, legs are very tired and i have a lot of work. Although I ran out to catch up to Rob and Alex who I saw running from the window. Probably about 2-5 minutes easy.
Causalties
Picked scab which started bleeding. Also noticed some weird scab on head that apon being picked started bleeding.

Run
Intermittent periods while exploring the ice caves near Ellenville. Probably about 4-5miles some of which was up rocks on the small path which passes through the caves.
Legs were very tired from yesterday and remain so throughout the day.
Also did a little climbing which deserves to be mentioned.
Injuries sustained
Scraped my arm on rocks- no blood drawn
Stabbed knee with stick- opened up previous scab, stained my socks as well as causing the first blood stain on my shoes.
Food
12:30- 2bananas, bagel, french toast sticks

Relaxing the day after a race.
Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve.
Mountain biking: 2-6ish
Pine Rd. to the pond. Up Glory Hill Rd. to Oakwood Dr. Over Rhododendron Bridge to Laurel Ledge Rd. To Giant's Path & Workplace, to Old Minnewaska Trail. Then Split Rock to Shongum Path. Back on Undercliff Rd., up Godzilla to Home Farm. Down on Forest Dr. to Kleine Kill Rd. and Duck Pond Rd. Finally to Pine Rd. and eventually campus.
Fall off #1: Riding down a narrow path with a little ditch taking up one side running parallel to the steep slope dropping off the otherside. Hit a rock, landed in the ditch, over compensated, and rode over the side. I was able to jump off and land on my feet as my bike tipped over the edge. (Old Minewaska Trail)
Fall off #2: Rode into a log. i tried to lift my front wheel to early and landed before getting to the log. Flipped over the handlebars and when I landed I pushed the bike over me with my legs. Minor knee pain in right knee and some cool scratches on my leg. Cristened my new socks with a blood stain. (Old Minewaska Trail)
Food
12:30- Falafels, carrots, tomatoes.
after bike ride, maybe 6ish- Hot dog, Hamburger.
9:00-12:00 Nuts and a protien power bar kind of thing.

Thursday May 10th
(yesterday was easy 50 minutes at 9:00pm in order to stay cool. Went to Peak, down main st., right on Huguenot and back on the road with planned parenthood.)
When the rabbit of chaos is pursued by the ferret of disorder through the fields of anarchy, it is time to hang your pants on the hook of darkness. Whether they're clean or not.
-Spice World
Huguenot 5k.
Woke up at about 11 getting about 7.5 hours of sleep, but ended up being pretty well rested.
Ate immediatly after: Vegan chicken nuggets, tomatoes, and something else...
Started warming up at about 4:30. Did one ten minute warm up, streched, did a second ten minute warm up and one five minute one and streched again. Race began at 6.
First mile: a little over 6 minutes
second mile: 12:15ish
Finished: 19:09
It was pretty hot. The long warm up and drinking lots of water throughout helped with the heat and it ended up not being to bad at all. I was also pretty loose.
Felt like I was going out to fast during the first mile but was able to hold it easily.
Started out a little behind Alex trying to keep about his pace and caught up a little before the turn around at about 1.5-1.8 miles. Pulled away from him a little after mile 2 and passed two more guys before finishing. Picked it up a little earlier than I had planned, but it ended up working out.
Pacing ended up being pretty much ideal, but I was too dependant on my watch as well as both trying to keep Alex close by at the beginning and misjudging the finish to be closer than it was. I should probably work on learning where my potential is for pushing myself. I seem to be underestimating it in 5ks at least. Even otherwise, I dont think i would be able to pace a good 8k either.

I feel like I ran this one much better than in Danbury, but i still ended up running slower which could either be due to the heat or the fact that I ran 50 minutes the night before.
Warmed down over the distance of the course with Mike, Harry, and Nick
Ate about 3 hotdogs, 2bananas, and 2 of those nature vally peanut butter things.
Went to hasbrouck and ate stuff which I dont remeber.
Took a nap afterwards (9ish to 11:30) from which we learn the critical lesson: dont sleep after races.
